Welcome To Heartland's Extended Services
Extended Services in and around schools have been developed in Birmingham within the framework of Every Child Matters (ECM). Clusters of schools and other agencies (including the voluntary and statutory sector and the community) recognise that to help young people achieve their potential, they must work together, and in partnership, with young people and their families, to help meet not only the schools’ objectives but also to share in helping to meet the needs of EACH young person, their family and community.
From September 2007, schools in Birmingham have worked with multi-agency partners in their Extended Service Cluster to provide young people and their families with access to the Extended Services Core Offer.
The Core Offer may be delivered on a school site or by sign-posting to other providers and venues in the area. It includes:
- Primary schools providing access to high-quality childcare and a varied menu of out of hours activities
- Secondary schools providing a safe place to be and access to a varied menu of out of hours activities
- Access to parenting support and family learningSwift and easy access to specialist and targeted services
- Schools ensuring that they provide community access to appropriate facilities
- Extended Services are available in all schools across the Heartlands Cluster.
